The performance benefits of the Cadence come in part from the efficiency of its propeller and the utilization of your strongest set of muscles: your legs.

The heart of the Cadence is the propeller drive system. Utilizing an efficient chain drive similar to that of a bicycle, coupled to a high performance right angle spiral bevel gear drive, the propeller shaft emerges from the hull encased in a fixed tube. This tube runs to the support skeg at the stern of the vessel where finally the propeller shaft emerges and connects with the high performance triple bladed propeller.

With this direct drive one has the option of pedaling forward or backward, thus providing for forward and reverse motion of the boat.

Unlike a bicycle, pedaling on the water does not require multiple gears for efficient operation. The primary purpose of multiple gears on a bicycle are to accommodate the changes in torque required when pedaling up and down hills.

Since there are no hills to speak of on the water, only a single speed is needed.

Experienced Cadence users cruise at 5 to 6 mph with moderate effort. Under racing conditions, distances of 7 miles and more have been covered in an hour without assistance from wind or water currents. Cadence owners have reported achieving sprints of over 11 mph.

Exclusive to the Cadence is our weed cutting blade. This device significantly reduces or eliminates the effects of encounters with water borne plant matter. The weed cutter has proven effective against fresh water milfoil as well as salt water eelgrass and weed mats.
