A variety of options are available for the Cadence. These include a boat dolly, hull and deck colors, outriggers, and alternative hull and deck materials.
Boat Dolly: This provides an easy way to transport the Cadence between the parking lot or waterfront garage and the shore. The non-corroding plastic wheels and bearings, aluminum and stainless steel hardware ensure that your dolly will last in the most corrosive of environments.
Lastly, the dolly uses spring loaded clevis pins to secure the bunks and wheels to the axle. This enables you to quickly and completely assemble the dolly for use or dismantle the dolly for storage inside the Cadence less than a minute!
Propeller and Strut: The standard propeller in years prior to 2006 and the propeller shaft stuffing box support strut are composed of a silver colored zinc-aluminum alloy. These have proven themselves to be generally quite tough and durable in normal use. In 2006 we switched over to the brass colored manganese-bronze marine grade alloy for the propeller. This is even tougher than the silver colored standard propeller we previously offered. For a limited time we will continue to offer replacement silver propellers if requested. The default manganese-bronze propeller finish is matte-like in appearance. For an additional fee a mirror finish as shown above can be provided. In addition to equipment options, there are several standard color choices available. Note that it is possible to have a hull color that is different from that of the top, as is shown in the top picture above.
Standard Colors: Custom colors are available upon
request for an additional fee.
In addition to color options, there are several hull material options available.
The standard hull is made with a layer of gelcoat and layers of
fiberglass. The resulting hull is quite tough and durable for every day
use. For those interested in an extra tough boat we offer our so-called
expedition lay up. This lay up of fiberglass and core materials
can withstand multiple blows with a sledge hammer and still maintain its
integrity.
For those less interested in economy and more interested in a lighter
craft we offer carbon fiber and carbon/vectran in place of the
fiberglass. Vectran is stronger and less susceptible to water than
Kevlar. This results in a lighter vessel of approximately the same
strength. Note that it is possible to have a hull composition that is
different from that of the deck, just as with the color options shown in the picture above.
It is also possible to order a boat with a very thin gelcoat layer, thus saving weight
in that area as well. We can also use high performance automotive paints
instead of gel coats. Contact us for price and delivery times for these
custom options.
Outriggers: New for 2007 is the availability of outrigger
stabilizers for the Cadence. This option
improves upon the standard stability of the boat for those applications
where additional stability is required. With outriggers in place, as one or both can be removed at the
discretion of the pedaler while on the water or on land, it is possible to
stand up in the boat on reasonably calm water. With just one
in place it is easy to sidle up to a dock for purposes of landing or
boarding.
