As can be seen in the picture above, the Cadence employs a large
spade-like rudder. Located directly behind the propeller, this enables
the Cadence to quickly turn, even at low speed. The thrust from the
propeller is directed by the rudder, pushing the smooth bottomed stern
over the water, and pointing the vessel in the desired direction.
This is far more effective than the rudders used with kayaks, as the
thrust from the propeller actively pushes the boat in the proper
direction regardless of the amount forward momentum.
The two rudder controls are connected together. Thus, the
Cadence can
easily be steered with either hand.
