The cockpit of the
Cadence is a molded fiberglass pocket within the top deck of the
vessel. In this sense the Cadence is a
sit-on-top style of boat. Unlike most other such boats, however, the
high cockpit walls serve to protect the operator from getting wet in
typical use.
The reclined seat offers full back support. The
self draining seat bottom ensures that under even the wettest conditions
you won't be sitting in a puddle.
Should an excessive amount of
water enter the cockpit, one merely opens the speed bailer and pedals at
a speed faster than 2.5 mph, and the water will drain from the cockpit.
The speed bailer is the silver rectangle directly below the water bottle
in the image above. No pumping is necessary!
The patented pedal drive unit enables adjustment
fore and aft, and accommodates operators from 4' 6" to 6' 9" height.
This can easily be adjusted while under way through the use of the twin quick
release levers located on the telescoping support rod between the seat
and the pedal unit.
In addition, as the pedal unit incorporates off
the shelf bicycle crank arms and platform pedals, any standard set of pedals can
be employed in place of the ones provided by the factory.
Steering handles are comfortably positioned on
both sides of the no-flood cockpit, requiring only one hand to operate.
A bicycling style water bottle
cage mounted on the drive assembly extension tube within easy reach
between the legs of the operator is provided as standard equipment.
