Started in 1991, Open Water Cycling has been devoted to designing and building high performance pedal powered watercraft.

One of the first boats was built for the wife of the owner of OWC. She wanted to explore the waters near her home. Traditional canoes and kayaks made her arms and shoulders sore, and paddling blistered her hands. Topping it off, these other boats were also very slow.

Since she is an accomplished cyclist she asked her husband to come up with an alternative, and the result is the Cadence.

Since that time Open Water Cycling has refined the design to the current state of the art. Using high quality standard off the shelf components where possible and fabricating the rest in our precision molding and machine shops, we strive every day to produce the best pedal powered boats on the market.
